Yesterday we set up two Assault Wing game servers that are free for you to join. We're experiencing some random problems, so the servers may kick you out or die. When it happens and we notice, we'll lift them up again. Please be patient :)
The servers are temporary solutions until we find a more permanent hosts for them. At least for the weekend there should be servers running. During the week the selection may be more scarce.

We managed to fix the servers so that they don't kick people out nearly as often as before. Now server uptime is around 20 hours and increasing steadily :-)

Our current server "AW Server 1" is capable of handling around 8-10 players. With more players the game responsiveness starts to drop somewhat. We have plans on getting more server power probably during the following days.

The work on getting more server power is still underway (progressing but not finished). To avoid the consequences of lack of responsiveness on AW Server 1, we have lowered the player limit on that server to 8. Scheduled games are mostly held on AW Server 2 which is capable of handling more players.

Celebrate!
We now have another public server online. It has a player limit of 16 and is to stay online 24/7. The server is called "AW Server 2" and it is located in Germany. This should give adequate ping times to all European players. Our largest player group, the Finns, will experience a somewhat greater lag on this new server, but that shouldn't have any dramatic effect on gameplay.
We will launch more game servers as soon as we witness a shortage of player slots. So far there has been no sign of such danger ;-)

A few people have reported problems logging onto AW Server 2. We're investigating the problem. Many people are able join, however, so don't hesitate to try it out!

The problems about joining AW Server 2 are now solved. We used the server successfully for yesterday's game session and there were no hassles!

A note for people outside Europe: Currently the public game server that we host is located in Germany. It should provide good or adequate ping times to everybody in Europe.
We have had interested players also from the Americas and Asia. Unfortunately our current server is unlikely to provide adequate ping times to those continents.
As a solution, you can always set up your own server. Just select Create a Server in the Battlefront menu and that's it. Your server will be visible to all other Assault Wing players in the Battlefront menu.
If the game complains that your system doesn't support UPnP, you will have to open some ports in your firewall manually. The required port numbers are displayed in the popup dialog.

Why there is no public server running at the moment?
